Michael Benson, born in Wexford, Ireland, is a filmmaker and media producer with a background in Youth and Community Work. He holds an honors degree in Social Science, bringing a unique perspective to his documentary and film projects.

Michael Benson draws inspiration from people and the relationships that shape communities and society. Passionate about visual storytelling, he believes film has the power to recreate lost worlds, imagine new ones, and create meaningful emotional connections between audiences and the characters on screen.
When and how did you begin your filmmaking career?
Michael Benson’s filmmaking journey began unexpectedly. After deciding against buying a motorbike, he invested the refunded deposit in his first camera instead. What started with learning through mistakes and imperfect footage soon grew into a lasting passion for filmmaking and visual storytelling.
How many films have you made, and which one is your own favorite?
Michael Benson has worked on numerous film and television projects as a cinematographer, camera operator, and editor. His portfolio includes several short and feature films across genres such as gangster, horror, and science fiction, with each project holding a special place in his creative journey.
