Gabriel Da Silva is an independent filmmaker and screenwriter from Switzerland. After studying drama and screenwriting, he began his career as an actor before dedicating himself to filmmaking and storytelling.

Tell us about your inspiration as a filmmaker?
Gabriel Da Silva is inspired by bringing the written word to life through film. He enjoys exploring different worlds, emotions, and characters, drawing inspiration from real people and everyday life. For him, filmmaking is the art of transforming stories into powerful cinematic experiences, while creating meaningful connections between audiences and the characters on screen.
When and how did you begin your filmmaking career?
Gabriel Da Silva began his filmmaking journey in 2016 with his first short film, New Love (Neue Liebe), while simultaneously writing his debut feature screenplay, The Silent Scream (Der lautlose Schrei). The drama explores the serious issue of bullying in schools and its devastating impact on teenagers. Although many filmmakers begin with several short films, Gabriel took a unique path by developing a feature-length project from the very start, reflecting his ambitious vision as a storyteller.
What’s the most exciting thing for you in filmmaking?
For Gabriel Da Silva, filmmaking is about creating meaningful stories and memorable characters that connect with audiences on a deeper level. He believes cinema has the power to inspire hope, spark emotion, and encourage reflection, often communicating more powerfully through images than words alone. Passionate about socially relevant storytelling, he focuses primarily on drama, using film to highlight important issues, inspire positive change, and encourage viewers to see society from new perspectives. While he occasionally explores comedy, his films always strive to leave audiences with a sense of hope and optimism.
